The right golf cap not only complements your look, but it can also help you enjoy your day better and even help you play better. You want sun protection, you want to be
comfortable on the court, and you want to stay as cool as possible. Golf caps can do all of these, and then some.
Golf caps come in different styles, shapes, and sizes. It can feel a little overwhelming at times, but we're here to help.
Over time, you may want to build a collection of golf caps - it's always good to choose based on weather, style, and color.
Types of golf caps
We divide golf caps into three main types. "Baseball" hats, sun hats, and bucket hats. Let's take a quick look at each type:
"baseball" cap
When someone says "golf cap", "baseball cap" is probably the first thing that comes to mind. This is the most common type and you will find the vast majority of players wearing it
on the field.
You can find these hats in a variety of colors across the rainbow with your favorite golf brand logos. Subcategories include "Trucker Hat", "Rope Hat", and "Flat Brim" hats. Most are
one size fits all with an adjustment on the back, but some do come in different sizes and need to be tried on before buying.
golf sun hat
Golf sun hats first became popular in the 1980s, when PGA Tour professionals started wearing them. In recent years, they've started a comeback -- Phil Mickelson wore only one for
four days to win the PGA Championship.
Golf sun hats are not for everyone. First of all, you need beautiful hair, otherwise, sunburn will be brutal. You'll find fewer style choices than "baseball" hats, but you can find most
colors on the market.
golf bucket hat
The most famous golf cap was worn by Spaulding at Caddyshack.
Most recently, PGA Tour pro-Joel Dahmen donned a golf cap on tour, leading the charge for golf bucket hats when he needed to recharge the leaderboards.
You can find golf caps in a variety of brim sizes, from very small to very large (almost sombrero size). The main advantage of golf caps (except for the prominence) is sun protection.
They provide more protection for your face and back of your neck than other golf caps.
